Still A Glimpse of Hope for the Yankees
With the Yankees struggling to hold on to even a glimpse of the wild card I find myself saddened to think that my favorite men in pinstripes may not make it out of the regular season.
While I love the Yankees and still hold on to that vain hope that they will magically come back to claim the wild card. I also realize that the Yankees would have to win every one of the six remaining games while the Red Sox would have to lose.
That would make for one hell of an exciting end of the season. I’m thinking its not very likely, but then again I remember saying that about one of their games against the Rangers in 2006 after recovering from a nine-run deficit.
Don’t hang up those pinstripes yet.

Stillwater? More Like Stillwinning…
Since last October four people from Stillwater, New York have been million dollar winners. The most recent winner won off a 500 Million Dollar Extravaganza scratch off ticket which, was purchased at a local Stewart’s. This ticket will pay 34,000 dollars a year (after taxes) for 20 years.
Other lucky Stillwater residents won off:
- Win for life last October.
- The Merry Money instant scratch off ticket in January.
- The Cashtastic instant scratch off ticket in July.
I can’t seem to get over the fact that this many people in Stillwater have won a million dollars. I jokingly said to my step father earlier that four people is half of Stillwater’s population. In all seriousness the population of Stillwater is 7,522 which, in my opinion, is pretty small for the amount of winners.
This kind of makes me wonder about the saying you have more of a chance to win the lottery than get stuck by lightning…YIKES.
Now I’m off to Stewart’s to buy myself a lottery ticket. Maybe I’ll be the fifth Stillwater resident to win a million dollars. Keep your fingers crossed.

What’s With all the Nonsense About Pigs?
On Tuesday September 9th Barack Obama made the comment “You can put lipstick on a pig, but it’s still a pig.” Everyone immediately jumped to the conclusion that Obama was making an attack on McCain’s vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin. These accusations were formed because in a speech Palin jokes about the only difference between a hockey mom and pit-bull is lipstick.
In response Obama immediately stated that his comment was taken out of context, he was referring to the McCain’s economic policies. Meaning, in my opinion, that you can change the Republican candidate but it still won’t make a difference. In other words if McCain is elected it will be like another year of Bush.
Obama is the only one who really knows how he meant that comment, but why does it matter when McCain used the same analogy against Hillary Clinton last year?
McCain and Palin now have a commercial about Obama’s comment. I personally think that this is a pathetic attempt at winning votes. I also find this commercial annoying because everyone knows what Obama said. How could we not? It has been all over the news since Tuesday.
I think everyone is making way too much of this comment. Seriously, there are much more important things to be worrying about right now other than pigs. Maybe we should try worrying about how to lower gas prices and get the economy back on track instead of worrying about who compared whom to a pig.
